Vodafone-Idea (Vi) has announced the list of Xiaomi phones that are set to get support for 5G services. The telecom giant has revealed that it has tested the latest network on many Xiaomi, and Redmi phones. A software update will be rolled out to the eligible devices to let Vi users enjoy the latest network.

“This partnership will enable Xiaomi and Redmi smartphone users to enjoy enhanced data experience on Vi 5G once the services are launched by the operator,” the telecom company said in a statement to ET. But, Vi hasn’t yet released 5G in any of the Indian cities yet, unlike Jio and Airtel. Here is everything we know so far about Vi 5G launch.

When will Vodafone-Idea launch 5G in India?

Well, the answer to this question is still unknown. It is being said that the telecom giant will launch 5G in the country by 2024. But, the fact that Vodafone-Idea has started testing the latest network on many Xiaomi devices, there are high chances that the telecom giant could soon launch 5G in the country. As of now, there are no official details on when Vi 5G will arrive in different parts of India. The telco has repeatedly said that it is still testing the service and that users will be notified when 5G is launched in India.

List of phones that are eligible for Vi 5G

The company has revealed the list of devices that are eligible for 5G network. These include Xiaomi 13 Pro, Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G, Redmi 11 Prime 5G, Redmi K50i, Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G, Redmi Note 12 5G, Xiaomi 12 Pro and Mi 11 Ultra. The list also consists of Mi 11X Pro, Xiaomi 11T Pro 5G, Redmi Note 11T 5G, Xiaomi 11 Lite NE 5G, Redmi Note 11 Pro 5G, Mi 11X, Mi 10, Mi 10T, Mi 10T Pro, and Mi 10i.

Airtel and Jio now offer 5G in hundreds of Indian cities

Airtel and Jio are way ahead in terms of providing 5G services to their customers. While the network is not as stable as 4G yet, people can start testing 5G on their compatible phones. Reliance Jio recently revealed that it has managed to roll out 5G in as many as 406 Indian cities, whereas Airtel is offering 5G services in over 500 cities.
