The possibility of Erling Haaland departing Manchester City after just one season continue to linger with fresh reports claiming a new suitor is planning a £175m offer for his services.

The Norwegian has been in the goals at City during his debut season in the Premier League. Indeed, his winner at Crystal Palace on Saturday means he has an astonishing 34 goals in 35 appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side.

Despite that, all does not appear well behind the scenes. There has been suggestions from pundits that Haaland might have signed for the wrong side in City given the way they have had to adapt their style. Led by Jamie Carragher, he argues that, despite the success of the Norwegian on a personal level, he does not make City a better side.

Adding to the uncertainty, Haaland has also been dogged by speculation that Guardiola never wanted to sign him in the first place. And while the City boss has moved to deny such claims, suggestions about Haaland and City ‘divorcing one another’ have gathered pace in recent weeks.

His deal at the Etihad Stadium, however, does not expire until summer 2027. And even if City did decide to sell, it would surely take a mammoth fee to prise him away from City.

The club perhaps most frequently linked with a move for Haaland are Real Madrid.

Los Blancos are long-term admirers of the 22-year-old and held talks over his signing when it was apparent he would be leaving Dortmund.

PSG READY TO MAKE MOVE FOR ERLING HAALAND

And while the move did not materialise at the time, their interest has never seemingly faded. Now with Karim Benzema nearing the end of the line at the Bernabeu, links to Haaland are gathering pace again.

However, it remaisn uncertain if Real Madrid would be able to fund such a move for the player.

As a result, PSG chiefs are now giving serious thoughts to a move for Haaland this summer.

The Ligue 1 giants were once again dumped out of the Champions League at the last-16 stage. And despite spending huge amounts of cash, they appear no nearer to winning the trophy they have long since craved.

In a bid to revamp their attack, French journalist Daniel Riolo claims PSG “could begin a new story” with Haaland in their attack.

He claims they want to pair the City striker up front with Kylian Mbappe, who is now regarded as the world’s best player.

Suggesting the deal would cost around £175m, he claims PSG chiefs very much want the two men to lead their line as part of a bright new future.

Major hurdle could hinder PSG prospects

Chatting to Football.Fr, he claims Haaland to PSG faces one major hurdle. And that lies amid the rivalry between City’s Abu Dhabi ownership and whether they would sell to PSG’s Qatari chiefs.

Still, he claims it meeting Haaland’s £175m exit clause is a scenario PSG will explore.

Mbappe hinted after Wednesday’s Champions League exit to Bayern Munich that his future could be in some doubt.

And club chiefs see the signing of Haaland as a way to appease the increasingly-frustrated 24-year-old.

Haaland’s potential arrival, however, will also hinge entirely on the possible sale of Neymar. Likely to miss the rest of the season, the Brazilian is reportedly on the summer wishlists of both Man Utd and Chelsea.
